What was the purpose of the antibiotic lab?
Hypothesis: If Penicillin is applied to the bacteria, then the zone of inhibition will be larger. Background: The purpose of this lab was to see how effective a certain antibiotic is to kill E coli. The lab tested three antibiotics, Penicillin, Erythromycin, and Neomycin.
How are antibiotic resistance measured in the lab?
These antibiotics were ampicillin, chloramphenicol, gentamicin, kanamycin, penicillin, streptomycin, tetracycline and neomycin. The resistance to each antibiotic was measured by measuring the zone of inhibition; which is diameter of the clearing area around the each strain bacteria, for their respective antibiotic.
